Best Dressed Women 2013
The past year has seen a smorgasbord of styles from the nineties revival to androgynous red carpet looks and statement feminine dresses. Our five Best Dressed women of the year all have something in common – they look forward and set trends rather than following them. Read on to discover who is at the top of our list.
A newcomer to our radar in 2013, British model and actress Suki is known for her mod-inspired 1960s style. Alongside her collection of flirty dresses and cocoon coats, the Elle UK cover star creates a strong style statement whilst wearing tailored shorts or printed trouser suits.
Without a doubt, Cara Delevigne has been the face of 2013, having covered countless magazines and walked dozens of catwalks. Whilst her off-duty style effortlessly nods to the nineties, it is her red carpet looks that have captured our attention. Sharply tailored suits and gothic inspired lace dresses in a predominantly monochromatic colour palette keep true to her signature style.
We love that Diane always dares to be different on the red carpet – always with spectacular results. She has embraced difficult trends such as cropped tops with stylish aplomb, ensuring that she always stands out whilst retaining an elegant aesthetic.
A permanent feature on any Best Dressed list, Alexa has remained firmly in the spotlight over the past year with the launch of her book It and recent collaboration with Eyeko London. Her impeccable sense of style has matured slightly as she embraces midi-length dresses and on-trend flat shoes whilst maintaining her own unmistakable aesthetic.
At the top of our Best Dressed list for 2013 is the reigning queen of the red carpet, Cate Blanchett. Never predictable, Cate is known for her directional style; opting for statement dresses whilst keeping her accessories, hair and make-up simple and demure. Angular silhouettes, bold embellishments and floor-sweeping hemlines have helped to gain Cate the title of our Best Dressed Woman of 2013.
Best Dressed Men 2013
2013 has been an important year for men’s sartorial style, with more stylish men than ever appearing on the front row of the major women’s fashion weeks. Our five Best Dressed men of the year all have their own unique twist to formal dressing that enables them to stand out from the crowd. Read on to find out who made our top five.
Best known for his recently renewed role as Sherlock Holmes, Benedict’s red carpet style is a far cry from his on-screen wardrobe. The actor takes a fresh approach to formal wear by pairing tailored jackets with cardigans or leaving his shirt collar unbuttoned. This fusion of formal and casual wear gives him an approachable appearance.
Model and actor Eddie Redmayne always looks suave whether he is flaunting a sharply tailored suit or a rugged leather jacket and slim-fitting jeans. Best known for his individual approach to formal wear, Eddie is usually spotted on the red carpet wearing a slim-fitting suit in a bold check or vibrant hue.
The London-based rapper has been a regular fixture at fashion week for some years now. His distinctive style is based around vibrant well-cut suits paired with statement slip-on shoes and his iconic thickly-framed glasses. The 25 year old focuses his sartorial choices on showing his fans how to fuse formal and street wear with a youthful aesthetic.
Winner of the British Style Award at 2013’s British Fashion Awards, Harry Styles was one of the most photographed celebrities at London Fashion Week in September. Appearing front row at several shows including House of Holland and Fashion East, his most documented style choice was without a doubt the leopard print T-shirt and ripped jeans combination that he wore at Burberry Prorsum.
Our number one Best Dressed man of 2013 is British model David Gandy. Blessed with an innate sense of style, David constantly maintains the perfect harmony between formal and casual wear with his wardrobe choices. Whether he is pairing a tailored blazer and waistcoat with indigo jeans and a trilby or adding an edge to a slim-fit suit by un-buttoning the jacket and wearing a simple T-shirt underneath; the creator of the bestselling Style Guide for Men app always looks impeccable.
