The 67th annual Cannes Film Festival was bigger and better than ever with stars from all over the world travelling to the namesake French city for a multitude of premieres, press shows and parties. As always, the red carpet did not fail to impress and amongst the hoards of best dressed, we have managed to roundup our favourites from the prestigious event.
Renowned for its luxurious red carpet events, there was a much more casual, sophisticated take to the usual Cannes glamour this year and acclaimed director and screenwriter Sofia Coppola was the picture of elegance in a midi-length Michael Kors
gown. A chic alternative to the classic floor-length style, Coppola’s dress
had timeless, ageless appeal. Sticking to the more characteristic attire, model of the moment Cara Delevingne stunned in a beautifully feminine Roberto Cavalli
dress, whilst actress Riley Keough mixed things up in a luxe midi skirt
and plunging neckline blouse by Valentino
Never to be overlooked, the men at this year’s festival offered up a varied take on sartorial style. James McAvoy opted for a three-piece navy suit
with an open-collar shirt
at a more relaxed daytime event, whilst Matt Smith looked every bit the modern British gentleman in a slim-fitting suit with a Mod-style narrow collared shirt and tie
combination. Heart throb Ryan Gosling – whose directorial debut premiered at the festival – made smart casual dressing look easy in tapered Burberry trousers
, beaten leather boots and rolled up sleeves.
Not many couples graced the red carpet as a force this year, and after Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds early appearance, we can understand why. Wowing the crowds both dressed in Gucci
, Reynolds – who has admitted that his wife also acts as his on-hand personal stylist – looked immaculate in traditional white tie attire to match the beautiful actress’s show-stopping monochrome gown.
