FLANNELS Five: The Best New Hats For Spring

FLANNELS Five: The Best New Hats For Spring

If you’re one of those few blessed men who can slap a cap on your head backwards without consulting a mirror and look good, we take our hats off to you. Not all of us are so lucky, but most men’s wardrobes – given the right style and the right occasion – will benefit from the introduction of a few carefully selected hats and caps. They’re an undervalued essential for everything from bad hair days to holidays, and this season, the follicly challenged are in luck. There has been an explosion in the hat market, fuelled by fashion’s obsession with ‘80s and ‘90s hip-hop and rave culture and the emergence of luxury streetwear, meaning that caps and, perhaps more significantly, bucket hats, are really having a ‘moment’. The perfect combination of form and function, not only do hats look good, but they do of course still serve their original intended purpose – of shielding your eyes from the sun. With festival season coming up and holidays on the horizon, we’ve pulled together this list of our favourite hats of the season.

Go bold in Valentino’s camouflage – top of our festival wishlists.

THE HERITAGE CHECK CAP

Baseball caps might be one of the most ubiquitous styles of hat, but Burberry versions of it are not. Stand out from the crowd in the British house’s famous check – a firm fashion favourite that’s both classic and subversive. Just the thing to elevate jeans and a white Tee.
