How I Wear: MCM

How I Wear: MCM

MCM’s AW17 collection is a master class in modern decadence. This is a new school of luxury whose singular mission is to create modern classics for modern people. Born in Munich in 1976 (the same year as FLANNELS, no less), MCM is loved for its super-luxe leather goods that come monogrammed, embossed, studded and embellished in every shade of leather. And this year, they’re experimenting with nylon, too. We caught up with some of the style set’s freshest faces to discuss the new season offering and to find out how they’ll be wearing the collection. The new season is more sophisticated (though no less covetable) than seasons past. The colour palette has been refined to reflect the muted shades of autumn, the monograms are understated and the hardware glitters with a subtle elegance.

Here’s the fashion pack on how they wear MCM.

I like to carry my MCM backpack on two straps worn low. I love taking my MCM with me when I’m travelling – if I’m going somewhere for the night I always take my rucksack. It’s a good size and I can fit all my essentials in – laptop being number one.

I like wearing high end with pieces I’ve sourced myself, and MCM is great for that. I’m obsessed with the backpacks that can be worn two ways – it’s such a clever detail. I’m also eyeing up the trainers for AW17 – they’re really chic.

I really like the fact that MCM references streetwear, but I like to team it with tailoring. I like to wear one of their really cool backpacks and team it with an oversized tailoring piece. This season, I like the more subtle bags that aren’t as heavily monogrammed.

The backpack is my favourite piece. I love rocking it with a straightforward outfit – it instantly lifts it. The wallet is pretty essential too.

Aside from the bunny rabbit, the metallic backpacks are the best. Also, the classic brown backpack. You can’t go wrong with that.
