How To Party: The Insider Edition

The festive party season is a marathon, not a race. A broad spectrum of get-togethers from the tedious office party to the potentially louche and ever so raucous night out with the boys are lined up before you. It’s a time to pace yourself, double park at the free bar and get into the spirit of things. Preferably in an outfit that compliments your inner party demon. Good shoes, a nice shirt and a slick jacket are absolute essentials. London-based model and producer Ashton Gohil knows this better than most. He’s been to a few after-parties in his time and we’d happily bet our Uber fare home that his insider knowledge is some of the best in the business. From house parties in the LA hills to gin-drinking essentials, Gohil reveals what makes the perfect party.

Ashton wears: Jacket Valentino, Shirt Valentino, Trousers Lanvin, Belt Gucci, Trainers Valentino

On his party playlist . . .
It would have to starts R&B chilled into '00s club classics.

On his favourite venue . . .
My favourite venue has to be a house in the Hills in LA, one of my favourite cities!

On his preferred company . . .
My company would always be my closest friends. I’d rather there be five of us talking rubbish all night and catching jokes than 30 or 40 people I don’t know.

On his favourite party food . . .
My favourite food will always be Caribbean. Ackee salt fish, stew chicken & plantain . . . all of it!

On his drink of choice . . .
I've started to enjoy gin a lot more recently, so maybe a bottle of Hendricks.

On his party essentials . . .
My party essentials are gum, a small bottle of cologne and my glasses – although I refuse to wear them on a daily basis.

On his unique party trick . . .
I can do magic tricks. I always used to love magic when I was younger. I do a lot of coin tricks and card tricks, you'll have to catch me at a party to see them.

On the best time to leave a party. . .
When the sun comes up.

On the best party he’s ever been to . . .
I went to a Philipp Plein after show party a few years ago, the guy had jet skis in the pool and rappers performing over the crowd in cranes.

On his ultimate party guest list . . .
That’s a tough one. It would have to consist of people from different professions so the conversation would be interesting. Will smith, Pharrell, Tom hanks, Zach Galifianakis and Lennox Lewis. These are people I grew up admiring so it would be amazing to have them all around a table.
