In The Frame: The Best Of Gucci

The wardrobes of cool girls and boys from Milan to New York have one thing in common, and that thing is Gucci. Creative director Alessandro Michele has distilled the brand’s traditional elements into a retro-chic, whirlwind elixir of re-imagined Gucci signatures, the old emblems hyper-realised through new and vintage references and dramatic styling. Michele’s ability to celebrate the core elements of a behemoth fashion brand whilst poking gentle fun at it is unrivalled, with archaic symbols and modern trends (admittedly trail-blazed by him) making unlikely bedfellows in his collections. They are nostalgic as well as current, alien as well as familiar. Gucci isn’t apologising for its slightly whacked-out uniqueness, and nor should you. From the extraordinary to the mundane, embroidered tigers with beads for eyes, to must-have pool sliders, bags, shoes and a simple wallet, here are our favourite pieces for spring.
