On Trend: The Paris Fashion Week Round-Up

And so another PFW draws to a close. The fashion glitterati and A-list insiders descended on Paris for one of the most memorable fashion weeks to date. Between Gigi Hadid intercepting a runway interloper at the Chanel show, to Balmain’s Britney sound track and a momager cameo by Kris Jenner, this was fashion at its most extravagant. Outside the shows, the street style was no less captivating, ranging from elegant Parisian understatement to decadent European glamour. Always a good barometer for the season’s hottest trends, snake skin, killer boots and blazer dresses were among our favourites. Here’s how to wear the best trends from Paris Fashion Week.

A chic and slightly subversive combination of feminine and masculine style, the blazer dress is a Balmain staple and one of the most versatile evening pieces in any woman’s wardrobe. Wear with sky-high leather ankle boots and a serious dose of attitude.

From after-dark heels to bold streetwear statements, this season’s boot trends will have you walking into the new season in style. Spotted outside the Off-White show, the label’s tongue-in-cheek ‘MADE FOR WALKING’ boots proved their pavement-pounding urban credentials. Look to the brand for similarly stylish cowboy styles, or turn to Prada and Gianvito Rossi for pop-bright retro colours and plexi-glamour respectively.

More flexible than a dress but just as elegant, this season’s skirts are pleated, frilled, draped and voluminous. Take your cues from this stylish PFW guest in a tulle midi-skirt worn with an oversized logo Tee by Valentino. The contrast between the soft layers and casual T-shirt will keep your look fresh, feminine and rebellious.

The wild at heart will be pleased to know that animal print is still a big hit on the fashion circuit. From Burberry’s deer print nylon trench, to a tiger patch coat by Prada, outerwear is our favourite way to express our animal instinct. This season, (faux) snake skin has taken centre stage for footwear, with Jimmy Choo and Vetements both tapping into the trend.
