On Trend: What To Wear Between Seasons

It’s beginning to get colder and the nights are drawing in, but the changeable British weather can make dressing appropriately for the temperature challenging. As we bid farewell to the last of summer and panic about whether to pack an umbrella, there is some good news. The autumn/winter collections are in full swing, with lightweight jackets, knits and statement mules designed to brighten your new season wardrobe. Think weather-appropriate looks for in-between days. By investing in some practical but stylish transitional pieces now, your wardrobe for winter can be built on strong (and chic) foundations. Here are some of our favourite trends for autumn.

Italian powerhouse Fendi has fast become our go-to for cool-girl separates. From their signature logoed pieces (case in point: this season’s ‘it’ mules), to Instagram’s favourite supersize tote, their AW20 collection was full of future classics. For those tricky in-between days, pair with heavy-duty quilted shorts and a lightweight, thigh-skimming jacket – this one handily comes with a breathable mesh panel.

The humble white shirt has had something of an upgrade for autumn - this time around it’s coming in supersized sized, making it the ideal layering piece. Throw under dresses to give a little extra coverage as the heat fades, and keep cuffs, collars and hems on show for a cooler take. Dress-wise, now is the time to start adding in darker hues, starting with moody florals like this one from Vetements.

Allow Gucci to ease you into sweater weather with the arrival of their GG knits. Featuring short sleeve knit dresses and jumpers, it’s the perfect solution for cooler days, without the risk of serious overheating. Make a statement and pair with the season’s must-have pink accessories, from their Princetown mules to their iconic Marmont bag.
