With the importance of conscious and sustainable fashion on the rise, many of our brands are finding new and innovative ways to create their collections. From naturally sourced materials and inventive new fabrics created from recycled plastic to new ways to reduce waste and a focus on locally produced products, these are the labels at the forefront of a more responsible approach to fashion.

The brand also chooses to work with natural fabrics, including silk and linen, to create forever pieces.

Stella McCartney is well-known for her pioneering approach to sustainability, responsible sourcing and environmental considerations, and the brand’s collab with adidas is no exception. Using innovative fabrics, including Parley Ocean Plastic - marine plastic waste collected from beaches and coastal regions - combined with adidas’ technologies, the result is a collection of fashion-forward sportswear pieces that don’t compromise on function.

Veja

Veja is well-known for its collection of vegan trainers, but the brand stands for more than that. With a strong focus on fair trade and social and environmental factors, they use materials such as Amazonian rubber, organic cotton and recycled bottles, whilst also ensuring the leather they do use is traceable and guaranteed to come from farms where cattle breeding does not contribute to deforestation.

Ganni

One of the hottest Scandi exports of recent years, the brand is firm in its stance. They don’t identify as a sustainable brand, but they are focusing on being more responsible: minimising their social and environmental impact and creating clear goals for the next three years. Most notably, they’ve introduced their new line ‘Ganni Software’, which is created from 50 per cent post-consumer recycled polyester, such as plastic bottles, and 50 per cent pre-consumer recycled cotton from manufacturing scraps.

Putting emphasis on the source of their materials and a return to nature, Ice Breaker was born out of the chance meeting with a merino wool farmer. An incredible 20 years on, the brand is breaking the mould with its clever, natural performance alternatives to the synthetic fabrics that have become common place in the market. Expect to find super soft items that not only feel amazing but also come with the peace of mind that they are sustainably and naturally sourced.
