Sneaker Series: New Season Sneaker Week

Fresh creps – not to be confused with the crêpes you put strawberries and Chantilly cream on. Although that would make for a tasty pair of Gucci New Aces, we don’t recommend dressing your brand new trainers up like any sort of French dessert. They’re much better left alone and polished to perfection (or a bit scuffed up, depending on your vibe), without any gastronomic interferences. We digress. It’s the start of a new season, so we thought we’d take the time to round up some of the most-wanted styles for autumn in a week dedicated to sneakers. This season, the chunky trainer is bigger and better than ever, old classics have had a stylish overhaul, and new styles (slated to be future icons) have hit the shelves. Here are some of our favourites from Alexander McQueen, Valentino and more.

Gucci Flashtreck trainers in yellow and blue with a chunky beige sole and futuristic oversized silhouette

Gucci’s futuristic Flashtreck is a favourite of the fashion elite. This season, a custard-yellow, blue and beige colourway gives one of the OG ugly trainers a new lease of old-school appeal.

Best for: Sci-fi nerds with a big love for retro style

Alexander McQueen Oversized trainers with chunky soles in a range of colours

The clue’s in the name: Alexander McQueen’s Oversized sneaker combines the label’s signature gothic look with a smooth, modern, and decidedly chunky silhouette.

Lanvin technical runner trainers

Is the closest you get to doing exercise running to the front of the latest release queue? You can still be a vision of style (and health by association) in Lanvin’s elevated running-inspired trainers.

A pair of Giuseppe Zanotti May trainers in a range of colours

Giuseppe Zanotti’s May low tops have the simple silhouette and understatement of a modern classic. Feeling fruity? Express your alternative attitude and appreciation for the finer things in life with mock python, velvet and suede uppers.

Best for: refined gents with a wild side

Valentino Bounce trainers with a chunky transparent heel and sole and neon leather inserts

Valentino have amplified their flagship Bounce sneaker with neon panels and a transparent raised heel. Modelled on a running shoe with mesh inserts and the label’s signature camo print, they’re an autumn runway sensation.
