Sneaker Series: New Year, New Sneakers

The start of the new year is a time for reflection, renewal and resolutions – some easier to keep than others. Resolving to hit the gym five times a week can be at best challenging and at worst impossible. Likewise, a resolution that involves any level of self-denial – like eating less or drinking less – will always feel a little bit like hard work. If you’re looking to make easy gains, may we suggest a little wardrobe refresh c/o a brand new pair of trainers. Minimal effort with maximum satisfaction. Whilst our physical and mental wellbeing are always high on the priority list for our resolutions, a little sartorial upkeep at this time of the year will go a long way. Walk on in to 2019 wearing a slick pair of trainers and you’ll feel like a new man – even before you’ve got to spin class. Here, we chart five of the best sneakers to get the new year off to a great start.

Off White Court High Top Trainers

2018 was the year streetwear reached new highs with the world’s most respected fashion houses throwing themselves into the mix – but Off-White arguably got there first. Get in on the action with this classic pair of Off-White’s high top trainers – like catnip for streetwear aficionados and slated to be one of the most-wanted styles of the new season.

Gucci Flashtreck trainers white

Kick off the new year with Gucci’s futuristic, hiking-inspired Flashtreck sneakers. With a bulbous upper, extra-chunky sole and technical detailing, these are for the directional dresser who wants to make a statement in 2019.

Valentino camouflage Bounce trainers

Valentino was one of the first luxury fashion houses to introduce sneakers to the runway, and the new Bounce silhouette is testament to their skill in this area. This pair of camo runners is chunky enough to bear some relevance to the ‘dad trainer’ trend but slightly more streamlined if you’re not ready for full-frontal ‘ugly’. Perfect if you’re looking to inject your wardrobe with more of a fashion focus.

 Saint Laurent Andy leather trainers

If 2018 was the year that streetwear reigned, 2019 is set to take us back to a time of more refined dressing. There was a resurgence of tailoring on the SS runways, and a level of polish that had been missing in previous seasons. Cue trainers like these minimal white low tops by Saint Laurent – perfect for wearing with smart cargo pants and tailored trousers.

Valentino VLTN open rockstud trainers

Did we reach peak logo last year? Nah. Indulge your logo fervour in 2019 with something a little more sophisticated courtesy of Valentino. Their classic Rockstud silhouette comes in mono black leather with their slick new VLTN logo writ large on the side panel. Smart.
