Sneaker Series: Step Into Spring

The inaugural edition of our dedicated series on the comfort-seeker’s footwear of choice – sneakers. Gone are the days when trainers were the reserve of athletes and gym bunnies. Today, they’re as visible on the catwalk as their more typically stylish footwear counterparts – stilettoes, boots and flats. Amidst the glitz and glamour of Gucci, Valentino and Saint Laurent’s Spring/Summer collections are uber-chic trainers for the modern woman who’s as likely to wear them to a social engagement as she is the school run. These are the styles we’re coveting this season.

Tom Ford and Gucci sunglasses

When a fashion power house like Valentino makes trainers, the style set sit up and listen. This particularly glossy pair of the maison’s signature sneaker comes dripping in glitter. Wear them to off-set a particularly shimmering evening look or dress them down with vintage denim and a Tee.

Trainers are officially a part of our everyday uniform. For those averse to the more techy and athletic styles out there, Valentino’s white Rockstuds have been updated with a simple gold band. Perfect for casual days that still warrant a little something special.

Jimmy Choo espadrille sandals and Gucci logo flip flops

An elevated version of the classic court trainer, retro styling and dusky pink suede make these Saint Laurent sneakers perfect for spring. They tick all of the springtime shoe-related boxes – muted tones, subtle branding and a feminine silhouette.

We’re in the throes of logomania, and we love how the world’s most feted designers are reimagining their iconic motifs for the new season. Gucci’s ‘Ghost GG’ trainers combine the house’s signature style with the work of street artist Trevor Andrew for a fresh take on an old classic.

Surfacing from the depths of a cold and rainy winter, we find ourselves craving lightness and colour. Cue Valentino’s pastel camouflage Rockstud low tops. A sporty silhouette and subtle camouflage print come wrapped up in a shade of prettiest pink. Our spring wishes granted.
