Style Advisor: From The Streets Of Milan

Last week, the fashion pack descended on Milan. The Italian city attracts some of the most stylish people in the world for MFW, and there’s something plain joyous and sexy about it. Must be la dolce vita. Milano really hit the sweet spot this time around, with one of the best fashion moments of the month happening at Versace with the supers (Naomi, Claudia, Cindy, Helena and Carla) coming together to commemorate the death of Gianni Versace. There are always twin themes in Italy – polished classicism and hot excess. We like them both. To celebrate, here are some of the best street style looks from Milan, and how to wear them. ast week, the fashion pack descended on Milan.

Italians look perpetually chic because they know what suits them. All-over pattern isn’t for the faint of heart, but a good way to start is with one item of clothing and one accessory. We suggest an Italian power-duo – a Gucci lurex knit and Dolce & Gabbana printed bag.

There’s nothing euro-trash about the streets of Milan during MFW. Take an ultra feminine stance on Italian fashion with Gucci’s embroidered floral coat and the prettiest shades of blushing rose in draped chiffon. Valentino Rockstuds mandatory.

The Milanese aren’t afraid of colour, and when they wear red, they wear it loud, preferably with some Gucci in the mix. Use textures and check to break up the block colour and team with an ultra-glamorous embellished bag.

Italians know how to dress. Culturally it is a sign of good pedigree, and the Milanese do it better than anyone else. Invest (as the Italians do) in a conservative but feminine frock coat – opt for a passionate shade of pink to keep it playful.
