Style Advisor: How To Wear Sports Luxe

We’ve espoused our love of the athletic look in previous seasons, and since five year trends are now a thing (haven’t you heard?), we’ve decided to do it again. This trend isn’t going anywhere, and thank the fashion gods for that. A combination of luxe materials, feminine but sporty silhouettes and modern styling make it effortlessly wearable and ultra-cool all at the same time. This season, athleisure (as they call it) has had a sophisticated update. Here’s how to wear it for spring.

Who said swimwear was just for swimming? Wear this retro-chic Gucci number like a body suit beneath a midi skirt and finish the look with a casual backpack-and-trainer combination. A swimsuit so good you won’t want to take it off.

Valentino’s athletic-inspired SS collection had us clamouring for racing stripes and varsity colours. Wear yours with spring’s best outerwear friend, a trench, layered over camisoles, blouses or hooded sweats – depending on the weather.

When we first said we wanted to combine sportswear with glamour, they laughed. They’re not laughing any more. Now, they’re coveting our perfectly put-together sweatshirt, track pants and sling back combination. It’s all about balance – just don’t forget the lamé.

Sometimes, it’s advisable to take a trend at face value. For instance, there are few pairings that make better sense than the track pant and trainer combination. Be playful with your colourways and team with an elevated logo Tee and chic, minimal sneakers.
