Style Advisor: How To Wear Stone Island For Spring

The latest Stone Island collection is a force to be reckoned with. An exploration of colour with sage, lemon yellow, lavender and brick red highlighting the season, SS19 combines archive references with new technical developments in fabrication and garment dyeing. Here’s how to wear it.

SAGE HAZE

As the saying goes, when life gives you lemons, wear a hyper-light nylon tela ‘Lamy Velour’ jacket with a detachable lemon-yellow zip-through underneath. Or something like that. A symbol of the performance brand’s technical prowess, it has a shiny, lightweight, wind-resistant outer in a rich garment-dyed sage that is translucent, allowing the colours of the bottom layer to show through.

TONAL LAVENDER

A lavender crew neck sweatshirt in malfilé cotton – a process otherwise known as the ‘Old’ treatment where the piece is garment dyed to give it a faded and aged finish. Like a bottle of fine aged wine, this is definitely one for both (not too) young and old to enjoy, despite the name. Layer with a tonal jacket, Tee and nylon cargo trousers.

PRIMARY COLOUR

Stone Island’s unique ‘Crinkle Reps NY’ fabric is made from a lightweight nylon with an interior resin coating that makes it wind resistant. It is then garment dyed with an uneven penetration, this time in primary brick red, giving the jacket’s surface a crinkled appearance. Team with fleece shorts and chunky trainers for a streetwear-savvy ‘dad-dressing’ look.
