FLANNELS AW19: In A New Light

, Valentino, Off-White. There’s a reason we champion these designers time and time again – and it’s not because we lack imagination. They represent superiority in pretty much every sartorial way fathomable: quality, design and style credentials. Their status is assured in the annals of fashion, and their presence in your wardrobe marks you out as a man of discerning taste. By its very nature, though, fashion is in a constant state of flux, with designers re-inventing their brands (whilst respecting their DNA) every season, up to four times a year. As such, we wanted to shine a light on some of the new season's hero collections – not their tried-and-tested signatures, but the up-to-date, must-have pieces for now. See your wardrobe, and your favourite designers, in a whole new light, with the FLANNELS AW19 campaign.

Designer Alessandro Michelle’s 2015 debut collection for Gucci constituted a ‘fashion moment’ and completely reignited the label. For AW19, he hasn’t reinvented the wheel again, rather, he’s subtly developed favourite Gucci signatures to make them feel fresh. The graphic GG logo hoodie, the side stripe trousers in blue and red, the mustard yellow, futuristic trainers. Come for the Italian heritage, stay for the game-changing style.

Virgil Abloh’s cult label Off-White turned the dial of the fashion industry. Whilst you might know the brand best for its arrow stripe hoodies and orange-tagged trainers, it’s the deft and previously unheard-of fusion of streetwear and high-fashion that marks it out as unique. This oversized windbreaker with its norm-core associations will put your outerwear wardrobe in the spotlight, whilst the all-black 2.0 trainers make a slick (and practical) alternative to their white leather counterparts.

The Paris-based, Italian-born house of Valentino has undergone something of a renaissance in recent years. Ever-evolving with the tide of modern taste, the brand’s recent collections have had a distinctly streetwear-inspired aesthetic – a far cry from the sharp tailoring that made its name. The logo-emblazoned VLTN track pants and top are a symbolic contemporary alternative to a tux. An athletic highlight for the new season.
