The Update: An Alexandre Vauthier Exclusive

A protégé of Thierry Mugler (the infamous French couturier who designed that wet-look dress for Kim Kardashian’s seventh Met Gala appearance) and previously head designer for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Alexandre Vauthier launched his own collection in 2009. With a résumé that reads like an A-Z of Paris’ top fashion houses, the label and its founder more than qualified for a FLANNELS exclusive collaboration. In fact, we were desperate for one – and subsequently thrilled when he stylishly obliged.

Alexandre Vauthier collections are indulgent, sensual and dramatic without being excessive. Everything that we at FLANNELS hope to embody. Whether we actually manage to or not is another question. They capture the essence of modern French glamour through bold silhouettes, thigh-skimming hemlines and luxurious materials. But where there is drama, there is also the understatement and balance that defines Parisian style. His construction is perfect – each dress, jacket and boot expertly crafted to his exacting, couture-inspired standards – with added flair. Each piece is designed with hedonism in mind – sexy dresses, blazers and heels with glittering embellishments made for after dark. To put it into context, showtime megastar and camp icon Céline Dion, a fan of the label, walked in his SS19 show (which had our hearts aching all over again for Jack and Rose – but this time to the sound of stilettoes walking down the runway). Pals with Rhianna, he’s dressed Kerry Washington for the Emmys, Zendaya at the after-party and Nicole Kidman for a Monaco red-carpet moment. Famously reticent about his star-studded little black book, it’s nonetheless a reflection of his understanding of exactly what women want from their wardrobes.
<br/boots. One-part elegance, one-part kink, they’re part of our exclusive range of pink pieces designed to celebrate the opening of our FLANNELS London flagship boutique. Wear with an eye-wateringly short mini dress and glowing pins. If ever a pair of boots was made for dancing, it’s these.
