The Wishlist: LA Festival Essentials

Coachella is the desert jewel in a festival crown that starts in LA and ends somewhere in Croatia come September’s closing parties. La-La Land’s preeminent fête has earned cult status over the years for its headline acts and ultra-stylish attendees – it’s an A-list magnet with enough VIP areas to placate even the Kardashians. But we’re not here to spot celebs. Coachella is about the music, the desert heat and the good vibes that lend the crowds dancing beneath the lights of the DoLab stage an extra joyful energy. Whilst fringing, crochet and boho details all have their place at a festival in the sunshine state, it’s good to break the ‘festival girl’ mould by styling up typical festival pieces with ones that are less clichéd. It’s all about channelling your own personal style so you can enjoy the blissed-out beats of Beyoncé, Haim and Cardi B in a headline festival wardrobe. These are our Coachella style essentials.

Tom Ford and Gucci sunglasses

Top of our LA festival essentials list, aside from sun-kissed skin and tousled hair, is a pair of Tom Ford shades to shield your eyes from the blistering desert sun. This season Gucci’s bubble-gum frames are our go-to for playful festival eyewear.

Coachella means swapping British festival staples like cider and mud for cold-pressed cocktails and glorious sunshine. Navigate the desert heat in style with a ruffle-edged bikini by Zimmerman – totally acceptable attire at Coachella.

Jimmy Choo espadrille sandals and Gucci logo flip flops

In the desert, it is hot, and you’ll more often than not want to keep covering to a minimum. A pair of stylish Jimmy Choo espadrille sandals or logo-laden Gucci thongs will keep your feet happy in the heat.

As festivals go, Coachella is about as glossy and exclusive as they come. Whether or not you have passes for the ultra-exclusive VVIP area, a luxe handbag is a must. Gucci’s signature take on a belt bag was made for this moment in the sun.

Ankle-wrap sandals are all well and good, but sometimes feet need a break, especially when they’ve been dancing their pretty way through Californian sand storms. Opt for slick white Fendi trainers or a pair of rock ‘n’ roll boots like Sophia Webster’s buckled Rikos.
