On Trend: Spring's Hottest Looks

After a winter spent in lockdown, we’re emerging for spring with a whole host of hot new trends up our sleeve. From Crayola colours to all-out sequins and mood-boosting prints, the SS21 collections show that fashion has found its fun side once again. Ft. Balenciaga, Paco Rabanne and Off-White: your new season shopping list starts with spring’s biggest trends as we go beyond the surface.

The SS21 shows were awash with colour, from acid brights to head-to-toe red and sugary sweet pastels, but it’s the soothing tones of blues we’re reaching for right now. Leading the pack is Balenciaga, who bring their signature quirk to the proceedings with this slinky, satin ruffle-neck dress. Slip into soft leather mules and grab one of their now cult Hourglass handbags for your real-world return.

It seems we weren’t the only ones craving a night on the town, with the collections heavily featuring one of the items most neglected from our wardrobes these past 12 months: sequins. Worn with sneaks, pared with simple tees and thrown in as a statement accessory, the disco-favourite fabric was everywhere. Personally, we’re going all out: head-to-toe, slung over the shoulder and pared with thigh-grazing silver boots. See you on the 21st of June.

Oh, how we’ve missed occasions that call for OTT party dresses and Australian label Zimmermann has answered all our prayers. Falling off the shoulders, cut just above the knee and covered in joy-giving red roses, just add a pair of Jimmy Choo’s pearl-encrusted heels for your next venture out.

Alongside the resurgence of colour for SS21 was a strong appreciation for prints. From checks to mood-boosting florals, designers embraced a mishmash of designs and Dolce & Gabbana were no exception. Top of our wish list is this beautifully crafted jacquard bolero set, which will make you feel just like modern-day royalty.

Even in the depths of lockdown life, the blazer has been having a moment. Quickly becoming the most versatile piece in your wardrobe, it has the ability to instantly elevate an outfit and lift your look, whether you’re pairing with leggings, joggers or hoodies (trust us, it works) or adding to tailored trousers and party dresses come June. Off-White have crafted the perfect one: cinched at the waist, subtly billowing at the sleeve and with the brand’s signature script adding a touch of interest to the back.
