The Update: A Dolce & Gabbana Exclusive

Who better to collaborate with on a hot pink pair of exclusive trainers than our favourite Italian fashion veterans – Dolce and Gabbana? Collections by Dolce & Gabbana, or D&G, as they’re more affectionately known, capture the effervescent spirit and sophistication of their native Italy. They are masters of both the zeitgeist and tradition, distilling both into heady collections of high-fashion apparel and accessories. Their experience in the field of reflecting time and place through style made them the obvious choice to work with on an exclusive pair of shoes designed to represent the vibrant energy of FLANNELS London and our new Soho home. They’re pink, they’re fun, they’re very FLANNELS and they’re very, very Dolce.

Founded by Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana, the pair presented their first women’s collection back in ’85. Over three decades of decadent style defined by Sicilian influences and an inimitable creative vision have followed. Celebrated for their joyful, Mediterranean-inspired prints and Alta Moda-levels of design and detail, the sultry extravagance of their normal offering has been substituted for a more futuristic aesthetic for the FLANNELS X Dolce and Gabbana pink exclusive trainers.

A real one-off, the black-and-pink chunky unisex sneakers are modelled on the label’s signature Sorrento runners. The style marked a radical break with tradition for the iconic duo, who are better known for corset dresses and fine Italian tailoring than thick-soled technical trainers. We’re glad they made the switch, though, paving the way for what can only be described as one of the season’s biggest statement shoes. Despite the obvious change of tone, the design DNA of the house runs through the trainers. They are extravagant, bold and unique, just like every piece of D&G, and, we’d hazard a guess, not unlike you, either.
